Court of Chancery to Hold Special Session in Delaware’s First Courthouse
Wilmington, Delaware- On September 18, 2024, Bayard director Thad Bracegirdle will stand before the Court of Chancery for a rare opportunity that few have experienced in recent history. Thad will argue a motion in Porco v. Pacific Basin Resource Mgmt., LLC, C.A. No. 2023-0310-PAF, in the nearly 300-year-old New Castle Court House for a special session held by The Historical Society for The Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware. The Courthouse, which now serves as a museum and registered National Historical Landmark in the City of New Castle, is Delaware’s first court and former state capitol.
“I’ve practiced in the Court of Chancery for more than 25 years, but this will be a first for me,” said Bracegirdle. “Having the unique opportunity to argue my client’s case in our state's first court for this special session is truly an honor. I am committed to presenting a well-reasoned argument for my client and look forward to doing it in this historic setting.” During the session, the Court will hear a motion to transfer the dispute to private arbitration.
Thad focuses his practice on representing and advising Delaware corporations, their directors and stockholders in corporate and commercial litigation relating to fiduciary duties, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and other issues concerning Delaware law and federal securities law. Thad also has counseled clients and litigated disputes regarding limited partnerships, limited liability companies and other business entities governed by Delaware law.
