Wilmington, Delaware- The Bayard softball team set out this summer to bring home another Yoder Cup, and they did just that.  With a slight chill in the air and as the sun began to set on September 13, 2023, the lights came on at Banning Park and it was game time.  It was finally time to determine the champs. After a slow start for Bayard, the game took a drastic turn in the final inning of the game. Bayard was down by 10 when they approached the plate in the bottom of the 6^th inning and still down five going into the bottom of the 7^th.  After a heroic rally, Bayard came away with the win, beating the Department of Justice by one run.  The team finished with a 14-0 undefeated record.

Each year local attorneys in Delaware compete in the Wilmington Lawyers’ Softball League with the champion winning the Yoder Cup, named after the late Steve Yoder, a former Bayard attorney and former Commissioner of Lawyer League Softball. This year the co-ed teams competed in a 12-week season with a short playoff run for the top eight teams.
